description: Jennifer Arnold is a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute
for Research in Cognitive Science at the University of Pennsylvania. Among
her other linguistic pursuits, she has spent some time studying the language
of the Mapuche. This began in 1992, when she spent a few months at the LIWEN
office of Mapuche Studies in Temuco, studying the verb morphology in Mapudungun.
Since then, her work on Mapudungun has focused on the morphosyntax of the
verb and the discourse pragmatics of reference.
